Eric Scheele is the President and Owner of Foundation 1, a Kansas City foundation repair and basement waterproofing company established in 2001. He brings decades of entrepreneurial leadership, residential construction experience and foundation repair knowledge to the company, with a focus on preserving Foundation 1’s longstanding reputation while strengthening its systems, service capabilities and customer experience.
Eric’s foundation repair experience developed through his extensive work buying, renovating and restoring hundreds of homes throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. After repeatedly encountering foundation movement, basement water intrusion, bowed walls, drainage problems and settling concrete, he recognized the need for more dependable foundation solutions and greater accountability within the industry. That experience led him to establish KC Pier in 2016 and later expand into specialized concrete lifting through KC Mudjack.
As President of KC Pier, Eric has helped build a comprehensive foundation services company offering foundation piering, basement waterproofing, bowed wall repair, crawl space repair, drainage systems, sump pumps, foundation monitoring, radon testing and mitigation, and other structural and water-management solutions. His experience operating KC Pier and KC Property Guys provides Foundation 1 with a distinctive combination of contractor knowledge, homeowner perspective and real-world residential renovation experience.
Eric is also the author of “Foundation Repair & Basement Waterproofing: The Kansas City Homeowner’s Guide,” an educational resource created to help homeowners recognize foundation problems, understand repair options and make informed decisions. He has written extensively about foundation repair, basement waterproofing, real estate renovation and homeownership and has participated in interviews and educational programs addressing foundation problems and residential real estate.
Before entering the Kansas City housing and foundation repair industries, Eric spent 11 years as a chemistry teacher and golf coach at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He later helped build TalkFree.com, an international Voice over Internet Protocol company that developed telecommunications solutions and reseller networks across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Eric lives in the Kansas City area with his wife and enjoys spending time with their grown children. Away from work, he enjoys fishing, camping, golfing and spending time outdoors with his family.
